Café Zinette, located in an old house on the heights of Lancy, is a Geneva institution. An emblematic village inn, regulars have been coming here for decades.

So how do you refurbish a place whose soul is so dear to the people who frequent it? How do you give a place marked by its history a new lease of life?

The project has been conceived in terms of simple interventions, preserving the patina of the furniture and restoring the historic frescoes. The focus is on renovating the floors, with patterned cement pavers or solid parquet in a checkerboard pattern. The chandeliers, meanwhile, have been revamped to bring a contemporary change, a fresh touch to a set of well-established habits.
