Isle of Models is an exhibition by Archizoom in Lausanne, transforming into an archipelago showcasing a wide selection of models crafted in their workshops. Inspired by the themes of scale and human condition as explored in Nadja Maillard's "Questions d'échelle" the exhibition delves into the roles of models in architectural processes: as tools for control, transition, or promotion, and even as standalone objects. It explores the dynamics of scale amidst the digital era of big data, BIM, and digitalization. With literary citations and model displays intertwined, the exhibition aims to provoke reflections on the nuances of spatial and temporal mastery afforded by model-making and miniaturization. Swift's notion from Gulliver's Travels, that nothing is inherently large or small except by comparison, serves as a guiding principle, organizing exhibits ranging from 1:1 scale to territorial dimensions.
