Forest Limitless
Renovation of a penthouse apartment in Geneva.
The kitchen, living room, study, bedroom, children’s room, and bathroom are arranged along the perimeter, surrounding the entrance at the center of the apartment. The rooms connect without dead ends, forming a loop-shaped plan that allows circulation throughout the entire apartment as one continuous sequence.
At the symbolic center of this circulation is a chimney created in collaboration with Geneva-based Swiss artist Flora Mottini.
Titled Forest Limitless, the chimney is finished with anodized aluminum coating, whose appearance shifts according to the viewing angle, time of day, and season.
Life in this apartment is conceived not as a one-directional experience, like a Western religious painting converging toward a vanishing point, but as a spatial experience with continuous expansion, like an Eastern landscape painting extending endlessly.
