With the advent of Internet, the miniaturization of computers and mobile phones, the ease of travelling and the absence of a fixed and permanent place, a new way of working has emerged. A new generation of “nomadic” independents simply use a phone and laptop to work while moving around. Nevertheless, the need or desire for synergy, for “real” social networks, for a meeting place, for not being alone at home, has given impetus to a new type of space that can respond to these new “sedentary” desires. These coworking spaces must meet functional criteria (light, ingenious workstations, high-performance wifi network, flexibility, etc.) while allowing the user to feel instantly at home, a member of the same «tribe», so that it can be quickly set in motion even for a short period of time. How to work today? YKRA responds today in the form of two proposals. On the one hand, a former paper mill transformed into a shared space married to a coffee shop in town, on the other hand, the transformation and modification of a conventional office building into a cheerful working machine in an industrial zone. To confirm their assumptions, the architects office moves and builds the prototypes directly on site.
